The Insignia voice speaker features Google Assistant, letting you search the internet or set your schedule with just the sound of your voice. It is also Bluetooth-compatible, allowing sharing and casting to multiple devices, including phones, tablets, and even other speakers.
But like other smart devices, you can’t rule out having some difficulties every once in a when using your Insignia smart speaker. Luckily, most problems can quickly resolve after some troubleshooting. In this guide, we look at the troubleshooting steps you need to follow to resolve common Insignia voice speaker problems.
How to Reset Insignia Voice Speaker
Factory resetting your Insignia speaker can help resolve connection or operation issues. To reset your device, press the Microphone button for 12 seconds. The LEDs on top of your speaker will alternately blink white and orange.

How to Set Up Insignia Voice Speaker
You will need the speaker, its power adapter, and a phone or tablet to set up your Insignia voice speaker. The follow these steps below:
- Place your speaker in a convenient location.
- Plug one end of the power adapter into a power outlet then plug the other end into the speaker.
- Press the power button on the back of the speaker to turn it on.
- Make sure that you have turned on/enabled Wi-Fi, Location Services (GPS), and Bluetooth on your device.
- Make sure that the clock on your device is set to the correct time.
- Download, Install and run the Google Home app on a phone or tablet to set up your speaker.
- To use Google Assistant, you must sign in to your Google Account.
Troubleshooting Insignia Voice Smart Speaker Won’t Connect to WiFi
If your Insignia voice speaker cannot connect to Wi-Fi, it could be because of different reasons. To resolve the problem, try these troubleshooting instructions:
- Check the Wi-Fi settings on your device to make sure that Wi-Fi is turned on.
- Make sure that you have selected the right network and entered the correct password.
- Make sure that your router/modem is on and that you are within range of it.
- Turn your device off then back on.
- Reset your router/modem.
If the issue persists even after trying the solutions above, reset your speaker by pressing the Microphone button for 12 seconds.
Troubleshooting No Power on Insignia Voice Speaker
If there is no power in your speaker, follow these instructions to troubleshoot:
- Make sure that your speaker is plugged in.
- Make sure that your speaker is charged (for NS-CSPGASP2).
How to Change the Time on Your Insignia Voice Speaker
Your Insignia voice speaker displays the time in hours and minutes. The time is based on the time in the Google app. To change the time, factory reset the speaker by pressing and holding the Power/Mic ON/OFF button on the back of the speaker for more than 12 seconds or until the lights are orange and the display should say SET. If the time is incorrect, your device may have selected an incorrect time zone. Manually select the time zone on your device, factory reset the speaker, then go through setup again.
To access the different time zones, using the following steps:
For iOS:
- Settings>General> Date &Time> Turn off “Set Automatic”
- Settings> General> Date & Time> Time Zone> Try a different time zone.
- Settings> General > Language & Region> Region
For Android:
- Settings> Date and Time> Turn off “Set Automatic”
- Settings> Date and time> Select time zone> Try a different time zone.
- Settings> Date and time> Try ON/OFF for 24-hour format
Insignia Voice Speaker Stuck on Load
When your Insignia voice speaker displays “Load” it means it is attempting to download and install the latest firmware update. Often times this can take up to an hour to complete when first setting up the unit.
Updates happen automatically every day (around 4 am), you just need to make sure your device is powered and is not actively streaming music. Alternatively, follow these steps to update firmware:
- Open the Google Home app.
- In the top right corner of the app’s home screen, tap Devices.
- Scroll to find the device card for the Google Home you would like to find the firmware version for.
- In the top right corner of the device card, tap the device card menu, More menu, and then Settings. If there is an update available, it will show it there.
If the issue doesn’t resolve, try resetting the speaker by pressing the Microphone button for 12 seconds.
Insignia Voice Speaker Stuck on Set
If the LED display on your Insignia speaker is stuck on “SET”, there is an issue with pairing and cannot establish Bluetooth connection. To troubleshoot, try these instructions:
- Double check that your device has Bluetooth enabled and then set the speaker into pairing mode by pressing the – and + buttons at the same time for four seconds until the displays show BT. Then select the Insignia voice speaker from the menu of enabled devices.
If you are still having a problem pairing your device, try these troubleshooting steps:
- Shorten the distance between your speaker and your Bluetooth device.
- Turn your devices off, then on. Re-pair your speaker and your Bluetooth device.
- Make sure that your speaker is not paired to another Bluetooth device.
- Make sure that your speaker and Bluetooth device are both in pairing mode.
- Make sure that your Bluetooth device supports Bluetooth v4.0 and below.
- Make sure your Bluetooth device is not connected to any other device.
- Make sure that you have selected speaker name or the device name you entered during Google Home App setup.
- If the issue doesn’t resolve, try factory resetting your speaker by pressing the Microphone button for 12 seconds.
If you have two speakers that you have set them up as a pair, one speaker with a display stuck on “set” may not necessarily mean there is an issue with setup. The paired speakers act as one system with the left speaker playing the left channel of a stereo audio stream and the right speaker playing the right channel. The speaker in a stereo pair displaying “SET” should also play music.

Insignia Speaker Keeps Disconnecting
If your Bluetooth device keeps disconnecting/un-pairing, there are several things you can try to see if the problem resolves:
- Shorten the distance between your speaker and your Bluetooth device.
- If the battery on your Bluetooth device is low, recharge the battery.
No Sound or Low Volume in Bluetooth Mode
To fix this problem, follow these troubleshooting instructions:
- Make sure that your Bluetooth device is turned on, and the Insignia speaker name or device name you entered during Google Home App setup is selected.
- Turn up the volume on your speaker.
- Turn up the volume on your Bluetooth device.
- Make sure that your Bluetooth device is not muted.
- Make sure that your speaker is not paired to another Bluetooth device.
- Make sure that your Bluetooth device is not paired to another Bluetooth device.
How to Use Voice Commands with Insignia Voice Speaker
To use voice commands with your Insignia speaker, press and hold the Play/Pause button or say “OK Google” or “Hey Google”, then say your command.
Insignia Voice Speaker Google Home App Cannot Find the Device
If your Google Home app can’t seem to find the device, try these instructions to resolve the problem:
- Make sure that your device has power and is on.
- Check to ensure that your network is working properly.
- Confirm that your router /modem is on and that you are within range of it.
- Make sure that you have enabled location settings on the mobile phone.
How to Turn Features On or Off on Insignia Voice Speaker
To turn features on or off on your Insignia voice speaker:
- Hold all three buttons for four seconds to enter menu mode.
- Press O one or more times to select a feature:
- Battery level (b)
- Proximity(Pr)
- Temperature (tr)
- Press + to turn the feature on or – to turn the feature off.
- Press all three buttons (or wait 15 seconds) to exit menu mode.
