Keurig coffee brewers are among the best brands in the market. But, like other appliances, users may have some challenges, every once in a while, when using these coffee makers. By following the right troubleshooting steps, you can easily clear most of the issues you are having with your machine. The steps may vary depending on your specific model.

Keurig K-Duo Plus won’t brew

Try these troubleshooting steps if your Keurig K-Duo Plus brewer won’t brew:

  • Make sure that the handle is pushed down securely after placing the K-Cup pod in the pod holder.
  • If the add water light is illuminated, add water to water reservoir. Fill to and not beyond the MAX fill line. Make sure the water reservoir is properly seated on its base. Contact customer service if the “add water” light continues to be illuminated even after refilling.
  • Contact customer service if all the buttons blink simultaneously.

How to troubleshoot a Keurig K-Duo that doesn’t have power or shuts off

  • Make sure that you have pressed the power button on your brewer to turn it on.
  • Plug the Keurig on its own grounded outlet. The brewer may not function properly if the electric circuit is overloaded with other appliances.
  • Check if the Keurig is on energy saving mode. The brewer is set to turn off automatically 5 minutes after your last brew for energy savings.

Why is my Keurig K-Select Brewing a Partial Cup

If your brewer is brewing a partial cup, it could be because of the following reasons:

  • The exit needle may be clogged. You will need to clean the exit needle.
  • The water reservoir may have been removed during brewing. Replace the water reservoir and perform a rinsing brew with a K-Cup pod.
  • The brewer may need to be descaled.

Keurig K150 time is not displayed on the LCD message center

The time will not be displayed on the LCD unless you have set the time. To set the clock:

  • From the Menu Mode, press CLOCK.
  • The set clock screen will display “DISABLED” if the brewer is new or if electrical power has been interrupted.
  • Press H repeatedly to advance the hour in steps or hold it down to scroll through the hours quickly. Similarly, press the M to set the minutes.
  • Press OK when you are finished. The clock is now set.’
  • The correct time should now be displayed on the LCD home screen.

My Keurig K-mini won’t brew

A minimum of 6oz of water is required to brew. Add on additional 2oz of water to the reservoir to ensure the minimum fill level has been met, then press the brew button. Repeat until the brewer starts to dispense.

Keurig 155 Brewer will not brew

If your Keurig 155 brewer will not brew, try these troubleshooting tips:

  • After placing the K-Cup pack in the pack holder, make sure the handle is pushed down securely and the LCD control center reads “READY TO BREW” with the BREW button flashing, then press the BREW button.
  • The exit needle may be clogged and will need to be cleaned. Use a paper clip or similar tool to clean the exit needle which is located on the inside bottom of the k-cup pack holder.
  • If the water reservoir is empty and needs to be refilled, the LCD screen will direct you to lift the water reservoir, fill the water reservoir, replace the water reservoir with a slideshow of images. Follow these instructions.
  • In pour-over mode, if the water flow has been interrupted, the LCD screen will state “Water Flow Interrupted”. To reset, lift, and remove the water reservoir. When the reservoir has been removed the screen states “If necessary please fill the water reservoir to Max Fill Line. Then replace”. Follow these instructions.

Brewer shuts off or turns on automatically

To troubleshoot a Keurig 155 brewer that shuts off or turns on automatically, try these tips below:

  • Check to make sure that the Auto Off timer and/or On/Off time features have not been set. To do this, press the MENU button below “MENU” and scroll through the programming options.
  • “OFF” should be displayed for Auto Off timer and On/Off. If “OFF” isn’t displayed, you need to reset.

How to Clean the Exit Needle on Keurig 155

Follow these instructions to clean exit need on your Keurig brewer:

  • Remove the k-cup pack holder assembly and detach funnel.
  • Insert a paper clip into the Needle to loosen the clog, then flash with water.
  • The k-cup pack holder assembly can be placed onto the top shelf of a dishwasher. Use low temperature cycles in the dishwasher.

Keurig B145 OfficePro will not brew when used for the first time

If your Keurig B145 OfficePro brewer doesn’t brew when using it for the first time, try these troubleshooting tips:

  • You need to prime the brewer for use by filling the internal hot water tank before the first brew.
  • Make sure Brew/Drain switch is at Brew position.
  • If the brewer is cold/frozen, wait for two hours for it to reach room temperature before powering on.

Keurig B145 OfficePro brewer will not brew

Try the following tips to troubleshoot a Keurig B145 OfficePro brewer that will not brew:

  • Brew/Drain switch must be at Brew position.
  • After placing the k-cup portion pack in the k-cup holder make sure that the handle is pushed all the way down securely and the backlit blue brew button on the LED Control Center is flashing.
  • If the blue light next to “ADD WATER” on the LED control center is illuminated, add water to water reservoir or make sure the water reservoir is seated properly in its base.

Keurig B145 OfficePro shuts off automatically

If your brewer shuts off automatically:

  • Check to make sure that the Auto Off Timer feature has not been set. If the green light next to “AUTO OFF” on the LED control center is illuminated, press the black button to turn off the Auto Off Timer feature.

How do I fix a Keurig that won’t brew

Advanced Keurig coffee makers have an automatic timer that lets the machine brew a cup of coffee automatically so it is ready when you are. If this feature is set, you can’t brew until the set time has passed. To stop the automatic process:

  • Simply lift the k-cup holder handle up. This will terminate the previous programming and allow you to brew on demand as you would normally.

How do I hard reset my Keurig

To reset a Keurig brewer:

  • Turn the brewer off and keep it unplugged for some minutes.
  • Plug it back and start a brew cycle again.
  • If unplugging doesn’t work, remove the water reservoir before plugging the machine and keep the brewer unplugged for some minutes without water and the reservoir attached.
  • Plug and power the machine and replace the reservoir.
  • Opening and closing the K-cup holder will reset the brewer if the brew cycle was interrupted.

When basic reset steps fail, you may need to use advanced reset techniques. To reset Keurig brewers with digital displays:

  • Simultaneously press the small and medium mug buttons, and release at the same time.
  • Press MENU three times immediately after releasing these buttons. The clock will read 6.09 if these steps are done correctly.
  • Press MENU once again and the display should change to say “brew 0.00”.
  • Press “medium mug” and then press MENU and release while still pressing “medium mug”.
  • Continue pressing “medium mug” and press “small mug” then release both buttons simultaneously.
  • Unplug the machine for several minutes before plugging in again.
  • The process resets the internal computer and should clear any glitches.

Fixing Keurig 2.0 blank screen problem

If the screen on your Keurig 2.0 brewer is blank, or is not displaying content as expected, try the following troubleshooting steps:

  1. Unplug your brewer and plug back in.
  2. If there is a power icon displayed on the bottom right of the screen, then proceed to the next step. If there is no power icon displayed, follow the instructions on troubleshooting a brewer that isn’t powering on.
  3. Go into the menu and try to set the clock.
  4. Proceed through the menu and try to set all your menu options.
  5. When the LCD is navigated back to the “Lift to Begin” screen, raise the handle and lower it back down.
  6. Troubleshooting is successful if the brewer prompts to start a brew or water only dispense. Contact customer service if your brewer doesn’t prompt to start a brew or water only dispense.

My brewer isn’t powering on

If you are unable to power your brewer on, try the troubleshooting tips below:

  • Verify the brewer is correctly plugged into the outlet.
  • Verify other appliances work in the same outlet. If other appliances fail to power on as well, there could be an issue with the outlet.
  • Try using a different outlet to see if the brewer powers on.
  • Ensure the power button is pushed to turn the brewer on. With the Keurig Plus Series and Keurig 2.0 brewers, the power button icon is located in the bottom right corner of the brewer screen. It will appear once the brewer has been plugged in.

How to fix a leaking Keurig

If water appears to be leaking from the bottom of your Keurig brewer, try the troubleshooting tips:

  • Verify the water isn’t coming from the cold water reservoir.
  • To see if the cold water reservoir is leaking, remove the cold water reservoir and check if there is water in the well underneath. Hold the full water reservoir over the sink and check if water is leaking out.
  • If your cold water reservoir is leaking, consider purchasing replacement tanks.

Keurig motor starts then stops

Some Keurig Plus Series and Keurig 2.0 brewers come with an energy saver or auto on/off feature. If your brewer is powering off unexpectedly, ensure these features are not enabled

Keurig lights and their meanings/fixes

Keurig B145 OfficePro

  1. Power light

    (green)

Green light next to the power button on the LED control center will illuminate green to indicate the brewer is powered on.

  1. Auto Off light

    (green)

Green light next to AUTO OFF will be illuminated when Auto-Off Timer feature is on.

  • To turn Auto-Off Timer feature on, press the black button above the power button.
  • When Auto-Off Timer is enabled, your brewer will automatically turn off two hours after your last brew.
  • To turn off the Auto-Off Timer, simply press the black button again and the green light next to AUTO OFF will turn off.
  1. Heating light (red)

Red light next to HEATING on the LED control center may light as the water is heated for the next brew cycle. The brewer will be ready for use in approximately 20 seconds.

  1. De-scale (amber)

Amber light next to DE-SCALE will illuminate when sensors in the brewer detect that scale buildup is interfering with the performance of the brewer. You should promptly de-scale once the de-scale light illuminates on the LED control center to avoid continued scale buildup that could damage the brewer.

  1. Add water light (blue)

Blue light next to ADD WATER indicates the water level in the reservoir is low or if the water reservoir has been removed. The brewer will not allow you to brew when the blue ADD WATER light is illuminated. The light will go out 3 seconds after installing or refilling the tank.

Keurig error codes and their meaning/fixes

Keurig B155 OfficePro

“FILL WATER RESERVOIR”

This error code on the LCD display of your brewer indicates when the water level in the reservoir is low or if the water reservoir has been removed. The brewer will not allow you to brew when “FILL WATER RESERVOIR” is displayed.

The water reservoir can be filled in two ways:

  • Remove the water reservoir from the brewer by first removing lid from the water reservoir, then lifting the water reservoir straight up and toward the right of the brewer. Fill with water. Place the water reservoir back on the brewer and replace the lid.
  • Lift off the water reservoir lid and pour water directly into the water reservoir while it is still attached to the brewer, the replace the lid.

“Water Flow Interrupted”

  • In pour-over mode, if the water flow has been interrupted, the LCD screen will state “Water flow interrupted. To reset, lift and remove water reservoir. When water reservoir has been removed, screen states “If necessary, please fill water reservoir to Max Fill Line. Then replace”. Follow these instructions.
  • In plumbed mode, if water flow has been interrupted, LCD screen will state “Water flow interrupted”. To Reset, Please Press Brew Button”. Follow these instructions.

Keurig  K150

“Water Flow Interrupted”

In pour-over mode, if the water flow has been interrupted, the LCD screen will state “Water flow interrupted. To reset, lift and remove water reservoir. When water reservoir has been removed, screen states “If necessary, please fill water reservoir to Max Fill Line. Then replace”. Follow these instructions.

In plumbed mode, if water flow has been interrupted, LCD screen will state “Water flow interrupted”. To Reset, Please Press Brew Button”.  Follow these instructions.

“FILL WATER RESERVOIR”

This error code on the LCD display of your brewer indicates when the water level in the reservoir is low or if the water reservoir has been removed. The brewer will not allow you to brew when “FILL WATER RESERVOIR” is displayed.

The water reservoir can be filled in three ways:

  • Remove the water reservoir from the brewer by first removing lid from the water reservoir, then lifting the water reservoir straight up and toward the right of the brewer. Fill with water. Place the water reservoir back on the brewer and replace the lid.
  • Lift off the water reservoir lid and pour water directly into the water reservoir while it is still attached to the brewer, the replace the lid.
  • The brewer can also be connected directly into the water line using a direct plumb kit.

Keurig 2.0

“Add more water”

The “add more water” error message mostly comes about when there are issues with the water reservoir. You might get this message if there are problems like the brewer leaking water when heating. The error also occurs if you are adding less water than the maximum line.

To clear the error:

  • Take out the reservoir and clean it thoroughly using soap, rinse it, and then dry it using a cloth. Then put the reservoir back and fill it to the maximum line again.
  • If the issue persists, try resetting your Keurig 2.0.

“Prime error “message

This error message usually appears when the water doesn’t come out of the reservoir. To clear the error, try the following troubleshooting tips:

  • Clean the dirty reservoir.
  • After you have placed the water reservoir, run a water-only brew cycle to check if the brewer draws water or not.
  • When removing and replacing it, ensure that there are no air bubbles inside and everything is aligned properly.
  • Fill the water to max line in the reservoir and put an empty mug to fill in the water.
