The Switchmate smart light control is possibly one of the best inventions of this decade. The ability to control your lights virtually enables you to turn your lights on and off from the comfort of your bed. It also enables you to turn on your lights automatically when you get home instead of fumbling in the dark looking for the light switch.

How to reset a Switchmate plug
- Launch the Switchmate App and tap on the gear icon on at the top of the home screen.
- Scroll down and tap on “Device Info.” At the bottom of the screen choose “Factory Reset.”
- After factory reset is performed, close out of your Switchmate App and restart your phone or tablet. Make sure your Wi-Fi and Bluetooth are both “on” upon restart.
- Depending on the device you have, remove the batteries or unplug your Switchmate, wait a few moments, then reinstall.
- Launch the Switchmate App and set up your timer preferences again.
How to connect Switchmate to Google home or Google Mini
- Ensure you are using the latest version of the Switchmate App (available free from the iTunes and Google Play Stores).
- Please make sure you have the Google Home and Google Assistant Apps installed on your phone/tablet and are up-to-date.
- Launch the Switchmate App and click the gear icon located at the top of the home screen.
- Tap on “Enable Google Assistant” located at the top of the screen and make note of the six-digit pairing code provided.
- Open the Google Home App, and in the top left corner open Settings > then Explore. This will launch the Google Assistant App).
- Use the search bar at the top to search for “Switchmate.”
- Next to Account Statues, tap on “LINK” and enter your six-digit pairing code.
- Your Switchmate should be paired with Google successfully.
How to do a Switchmate firmware update
- Go to the settings in the app and look for updates.
- Then download the update firmware and select install to update.
Switchmate not working during firmware update
It is best to leave your Switchmate alone while it’s firmware is getting updates as changes in the products programming are in progress and as such it cannot work as expected. Once the update process is complete, you should be able to use your Switchmate as usual.
How to pair the Switchmate plug to Alexa
If you own an Amazon Echo — or any Amazon Alexa-enabled device — you can use the Switchmate Alexa Skill to control your device with your voice. Just snap Switchmate on their room’s light switch and set the motion activation in the app.
Launch the Switchmate App, and tap the “+ Add Device” button at the bottom of your home screen to add a device. From the menu, select the device you are pairing. When prompted, press the button on your Switchmate device to initiate pairing mode and follow the directions provided by the App.
How to voice control a Switchmate
You can issue voice commands from within the Switchmate app, but you need to open the app and then touch the microphone icon first.
Open your Switchmate app, go to Settings, and select “Link Alexa” – from there it will provide a linking code which will transmit all your devices in your Switchmate app to your Alexa for easy control.
Launch the Switchmate App and tap the microphone icon at the top of the home screen.
When prompted, say your command into the microphone of your phone or tablet. For example, “Turn Lamp on.”
Switchmate does not work with Bluetooth unless you are very close by
This is dependent on the set distance which ranges between 30-40 feet. If you are closer and you are still not able to control via Bluetooth;
- Close Switchmate app, and all other apps, then restart Switchmate app.
- If it still does not work, try turning off the Bluetooth on your phone and then turn it back on.
- If still does not work, reset the Switchmate by removing the AA batteries from Switchmate and reinstalling the batteries.
How to connect a Switchmate to wink hub 2
Switchmate products are no longer supported by Wink. Switchmate made a change to their firmware causing their devices to no longer be Wink compatible. If your Switchmate product has been updated with firmware version 2.99.9 or higher, the device can no longer communicate with the Wink Hub 2 or be controlled via the Wink app. However, you can control the Switchmate via the Switchmate app directly via Bluetooth.
How to connect Switchmate to Cortana
Open your Switchmate app, go to Settings, and select “Link Cortana” – from there it will provide a linking code which will transmit all your devices in your Switchmate app to your Alexa for easy control.
How to control Switchmate without Bluetooth
Depending on the settings, Switchmate can be controlled automatically through motion sensor activation. Additionally, you can voice control your Switchmate.
OK google not working on Switchmate
You must make sure you linked your Switchmate product to your Google virtual assistant device. Then ensure you have selected the Enable google assistant option on the Switchmate app.
How to set sunset and sunrise timers on Switchmate
- Launch the Switchmate App and tap on the gear icon at the top of the home screen.
- Tap on the Switchmate/Simply Smart device you would like to set timers for.
- To set Timer 1, tap on “Timer 1” and select the times you would like your lights to turn on and off, and what days of the week you want the timers to activate.
- Select how often your timer will Repeat: Daily, Weekdays, Weekends, or Custom.
- To set a second timer, tap on “Timer 2” and perform the same steps as Step 3.
- When finished, tap “Save” located at the top of the screen.
How to connect a Switchmate plug to echo dot
- Make sure you are using the latest version of the Switchmate App (available free from the App and Google Play Stores).
- Launch the Switchmate App and tap on the gear icon located at the top of the home screen.
- Select your Smart Power Outlet from the list of devices shown.
- Scroll down and tap “Alexa Linking.” You will be provided wit ha Device ID used to pair your Switchmate with Alexa. Write the Device ID down or select “Copy to Clipboard,” and follow the instructions provided through the App.
- Your Switchmate Smart Power Outlet should be paired with Alexa successfully.
Switchmate Timer isn’t working
Do the following to remedy the issue;
Check the Switchmate’s Timer Settings
The Switchmate’s Timers are synchronized with your smartphone’s clock. Please make sure that the times set are saved during set up. If two Smartphones are connected to the same Switchmate, the Switchmate will sync up its clock with the last Smartphone connected.
Check Light Switch
Check that Switchmate is securely attached to the light switch and verify that it is able to turn the light switch on/off properly.
Reset Switchmate
Take the batteries out of the Switchmate and put them back in.
Why is my Switchmate not connecting to wink
If your Switchmate product has been updated with firmware version 2.99.9 or higher, the device can no longer communicate with the Wink Hub 2 or be controlled via the Wink app.
Why is my Switchmate rocker not working
Reset the Switchmate by removing the batteries and putting them back.
If this does not work, do a factory reset then relink the product to the app. The factory reset process is as follows;
- Launch the Switchmate App and tap on the gear icon on at the top of the home screen.
- Scroll down and tap on “Device Info.” At the bottom of the screen choose “Factory Reset.”
- After factory reset is performed, close out of your Switchmate App and restart your phone or tablet. Make sure your Wi-Fi and Bluetooth are both “on” upon restart.

Note: Your Switchmate must be in the OFF position for your Welcome Home feature to operate properly.

How to Pair Switchmate with the Switchmate App?
